China Releases American FedEx Pilot Held for Nine Months

HONG KONG—Chinese authorities have launched a FedEx Corp. pilot detained nine months back in the southern city of Guangzhou, easing a pressure place on the shipping and delivery giant that has been in Beijing’s crosshairs amid commercial disputes between the U.S. and China.

Retired U.S. Air Pressure colonel Todd A. Hohn was detained in September even though waiting around for a commercial flight following flying deliveries during Asia from the FedEx regional hub in Guangzhou.
