Indian cities drop in Global Smart City Index, ‘not prepared’ for pandemic

“Towns in India (New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru) put up with substantial drops this year. This can be attributed to the harmful impact that the pandemic has had wherever the technological improvement was not up to day,” the report stated.

It further additional that “Indian metropolitan areas have suffered a lot more from the pandemic due to the fact they ended up not organized”.

From 15 indicators that the respondents perceive as the priority regions for their city, all 4 metropolitan areas highlighted air air pollution as just one of the important regions that they felt their city desired to prioritise on.

For metropolitan areas like Bangalore and Mumbai, this was closely followed by street congestion when for Delhi and Hyderabad it was standard features, the report stated.

The 2020 Wise Metropolis Index (SCI) was topped by Singapore, followed by Helsinki and Zurich in the second and the third put respectively. Some others in the leading ten record contain Auckland (4th), Oslo (5th), Copenhagen (sixth), Geneva (seventh), Taipei Metropolis (eighth), Amsterdam (ninth) and New York at the 10th put.
