Ten indicted in $1.4B multi-state hospital testing fraud scheme

Ten people today have been indicted in connection to a scheme of employing rural hospitals across a number of states to allegedly invoice private coverage corporations for fraudulent laboratory screening promises.

The conspirators billed insurers about $1.four billion for laboratory urinalysis drug assessments and blood assessments and have been paid about $four hundred million. This allegedly went on from the conclude of 2015 to the commencing of 2018.

Those people billed in an indictment submitted in the Middle District of Florida contain defendants Jorge Perez, sixty, of Miami-Dade County, Florida Seth Guterman, fifty four, of Chicago, Illinois Ricardo Perez, 57, of Miami-Dade County, Florida Aaron Durall, 48, and Neisha Zaffuto, forty four, every single of Broward County, Florida Christian Fletcher, 34, of Atlanta, Georgia James Porter Jr., forty nine, of Marion County, Florida Sean Porter, fifty two, of Citrus County, Florida Aaron Alonzo, forty four, and Nestor Rojas, forty five, every single of Miami-Dade County, Florida. 

The conspirators are also accused of cash laundering to encourage the scheme and to distribute the fraudulent proceeds.

THE More substantial Craze

This indictment accuses the defendants of fraudulently billing private insurers.

The Division of Health and Human Solutions created the Medicare Fraud Strike Pressure in 2007 to detect fraudulent Medicare billing tactics.
