Centre awaiting EC’s nod to set up MSP panel owing to Assembly elections

e-NAM

To a query on the integration of mandis (agricultural markets) into the e-NAM (Digital Nationwide Agriculture Sector) system, Tomar mentioned 1,000 mandis in 401 districts across 18 States and three UTs have been built-in with the e-NAM system as on December 31. He said the 415 new mandis have been integrated into the e-NAM system given that March 31, 2018.

Natural farming

On natural farming, the minister explained an area of 4.09 lakh hectares has been protected underneath organic farming until eventually now. In this regard, ₹49.80 crore has been introduced to eight States

The govt is promoting all-natural farming by way of Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Padhati (BPKP) introduced during 2020-21 as a sub-plan of Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) for the marketing of traditional indigenous methods, like purely natural farming. The plan mostly emphasises on exclusion of all artificial chemical inputs and promotes on-farm biomass recycling with big tension on biomass mulching, and use of cow dung-urine formulations and other plant-dependent preparations.

On the plans to contain all-natural farming in agricultural education and learning curriculum, Tomar stated ICAR (Indian Council of Agriculture Research) has constituted a committee for acquiring syllabus and curricula of all-natural farming at undergraduate and postgraduate stage.
