Urging the cashew-expanding states in the state to focus their attention on rising the production and productivity of cashew, the Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Progress (DCCD) has lauded the attempts of Odisha govt in far more spots less than cashew crop in that condition.
Talking at a electronic seminar on ‘Making Karnataka the cashew hub of India’, organised by the Mangaluru chapter of CII (Confederation of Indian Business), Venkatesh N Hubballi, Director of DCCD, explained Odisha is bringing around ten,000 hectares of space less than cashew crop each individual 12 months.
Odisha has covered around 20,000 ha this 12 months alone, although this is the most vital 12 months to include due to pandemic. It has distributed around 40 lakh cashew saplings less than MNREGA and RKVY, and other condition sector techniques as properly as less than private growth.
Observing cashew cultivation in Karnataka and other states, he explained the cultivation of cashew is secondary in mother nature for several, besides for a handful of farmers who are less than 5 for each cent in quantities.
He explained there is a lack of focussed attention by the Karnataka govt for the cashew sector. DCCD formulates the programmes and gives the pointers, he explained, introducing that the State governments should present focussed attention for the crop.
K Prakash Rao, Chairman of the Mangaluru chapter of CII, explained that Karnataka has around
350 cashew processing models in 6 districts, and a greater part of them are in the MSME sector.
Offering an overview of the growth of the cashew sector in the condition, he explained the cashew processing ability, which stood at around fifty,000 tonnes during the 90s, has elevated to 2.5 lakh tonnes now.
Stressing the need to have to provide far more spots less than cashew cultivation, he explained the production has developed from 35,000 tonnes in the 90s to 70,000 tonnes now. This demands to be elevated, he explained.
