Bonmarche collapses again as retail bloodbath deepens

Directors are hoping to strike a rescue deal and stated no redundancies would be made or shops shut in the meantime. 

Bonmarché has 225 shops around the Uk, obtaining shut 30 when it initial went into administration in Oct 2019 as it battled mounting prices and the menace from on the net buying. 

It was rescued at the time by rival Peacocks – element of retail tycoon Philip Day’s Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group. 

Peacocks and several other EWM Group brands went into administration very last month. 

Centered in Wakefield, Bonmarché traces its roots back to 1982. Founder Parkash Singh Chima began promoting clothing door-to-door and in marketplaces, right before opening his initial shop in Doncaster in 1985.
